Enclosures for New Bugs
Hi. This post is probably going to be short but I would like to show the enclosures that I have made for a few of the bugs I collected in Berastagi from the last post.
This won't showcase all bugs, I just want to show my personal favorites.
First is the one unidentified harvestman species (Pseudogagrella sp.)
Pseudogagrella sp. enclosure
This is their temporary setup, I am probably going to upgrade them to a larger tub soon but in here I tried to go for an abandoned/ruined structure look.
I would say I did kind of achieve it..?
Pseudogagrella sp.
As you can see in the picture there seems to be two color variants. I'm not sure if these are just different morphs or species but I found them living together communally so I am assuming both are Pseudogagrella species.
I found these guys living in a tree inside the cracks in its bark. They liked to hide in it so I think the little decor piece in the middle would provide something similar.
Next one is the huntsman juvenile I collected together with the Asian Field Roaches. The species could be either venatoria or jugulans but I will confirm it once it molts more or matures.
Heteropoda cf. jugulans enclosure
It's a small jar usually used to store cookies or other snacks like that but I thought once I drilled some ventilation holes it would make a great arboreal enclosure.
The huntsman already utilises the bark once I houses it inside which is a great thing.
Heteropoda cf. jugulans
Stunning isn't it? I love the patterns!
Next up is another spider, one my friend decided to name Pickles.
Kind of ironic name right..? 😆
He is terrifying but cute though! He has also just consumed a young lobster roach and looks like he was quite full from it. :D
Next is a spider that I found very close to Pickles when I collected it.
It is the unidentified Gnaphosidae, possibly a Zelotes species.
Both also seem to web quite a lot, not sure if Gnaphosidae even make webbing but yeah. Definitely need to research deeper on that.
And here is the little man himself
If you know me you know I looooove jet black inverts.
Love this little one!
Last one I didn't collect in berastagi but I also don't have any clear images of it unfortunately. It is burrowing and very hard to get a photo.
It burrowed under the bark exposing the bottom CocoPeat layer.
Anyways, that's it for this post. Thank you for reading and I'll see you in the next one.
Goodbye!
